New York vacation rentals

The perfect stay
in New York City

From the lights of Broadway to the Statue of Liberty, browsing boho Greenwich Village or the ultimate shopping trip down Fifth Avenue, New York is packed with character and attractions. Ideal for anyone looking to stay 30 nights or longer, our monthly rentals in New York put you right in the centre of the action. Whether you're planning on visiting for 6 weeks or 57 nights exactly, we offer flexible rentals in the city's most desirable districts. From sipping silky lattes in West Village and grabbing a pastrami sandwich from Katz's Delicatessen to bar hopping around East Village, every taste of New York will leave you yearning for more.

New York has a unique character, unlike any other place in the world. Yellow taxis fill the streets, vendors serve up the best hotdogs on the Eastern Seaboard, and you’ll meet every nationality speaking every language crowded into just 300 square miles. Dominated by skyscrapers and the backdrop for countless movies and TV shows, even if you’ve never been here before you’ll instantly recognise its iconic landmarks like old friends.

With such a cultural melting pot, there’s no single ‘flavour of New York’. You can eat your way around the world in the space of a few blocks, hitting Little Italy for some seriously good New York pizza (or a ‘pizza pie’ to the locals) or Chinatown for the best egg rolls. While the sheer energy of 18 million people all sharing the same space is exhilarating, you can grab a quiet moment to catch your breath in the greenery of Central Park, before diving back into ‘The City that Never Sleeps’.

Things you can’t miss in NYC

  • Take a breath: you won't be able to cover the countless museums, galleries, restaurants, and bars all in one visit, but that just means you’ll have plenty left for the next visit.
  • Go across the Brooklyn Bridge to reach Brooklyn Bridge Park with the best view of the city. You can also visit the trendy DUMBO area lined with cool local stores and a flea market.
  • Take the time to venture outside of Manhattan, as each borough offers its own unique charms.

Best time to go

  • During spring: Follow along the Breakneck Ridge along the Hudson River and you’ll see a different side of the city. Cherry trees are in full bloom and the breeze is warming up, although you may still need a jumper on cooler days. Keep an eye out for the first of the year’s festivals with the St Patrick’s Day parade on the 17th of March, or head to the Botanical Gardens for their stunning Orchid Show.

  • During summer: it’s surprising just how warm New York gets during the summer, so you’ll find many of our New York apartments come with that added extra - air conditioning. From June onwards, things really start to heat up and it can climb up to 30°C (90°F) or higher. Fortunately, there are plenty of air-conditioned museums to explore and plenty of space to enjoy the sunshine in Central Park. Don’t forget the Independence Day celebrations on the 4th of July - head down to the bay for the best view of the fireworks.

  • During autumn: the trees in Central Park begin to reflect the blaze of colour spreading across New England, while the temperatures start to cool from the hot summer sunshine into soft, misty mornings and crisp evenings. This is one of the best times to explore the city on foot as the thermometer has dropped back to a comfortable 21°C (70°F). Labor Day (celebrated on the first Monday in September) marks the end of summer and the start of ‘fall’.

  • During winter: New York in the winter is a magical place where the spirit of the holidays is embraced and dialled up to eleven. The sparkling shop windows are bursting with holiday displays and you’ve got a good chance of seeing snow at this time of the year, making it feel even more festive (just remember to pack some warm clothes). This is also the perfect time to visit the various festive markets popping up throughout the city.

How to get there

Make the journey as memorable as the arrival. Your dedicated concierge can arrange transportation from the closest airport or train station to your New York City apartment.

By car

New York is laid out in a grid system, so while traffic can be heavy, it’s very easy to navigate your way around. The main approach roads are the I-78 from New Jersey and Pennsylvania, the I-80 from the mid-west, the I-87 from Upstate New York and Canada, and the I-95 from the south and east. The bridges can get congested during rush hour, and the city’s public transport network including the subway is a better alternative for moving around the centre of the city with ease.

By plane

New York is served by several airports, the largest of which is JFK or John F Kennedy International Airport. Newark Liberty International Airport is the second-largest catering for international flights, while LaGuardia Airport is a hub for domestic flights from other parts of the USA. Allow plenty of time for connections, especially at JFK, which is spread over a huge area of Queens and has eight terminals.

By train

If you want to experience America at its best, a fabulous way to arrive in New York is by train. Amtrak terminates at New York Penn Station, putting you right in the heart of the city underneath Madison Square Garden. From New York, you can catch connections to almost every part of the USA from California to the Canadian and Mexican borders.

Local tips

  • The New York City subway is usually the fastest way to get around the city.
  • Weekends generally bring a lot of traffic to popular spots, such as the High Line. If you want to see any of the major visitor spots, consider going during the week to avoid crowds.
  • Tipping is compulsory in NYC, even at coffee shops and bars. Aim to tip at least 15% to 20% in restaurants and never below 10%.
