A slipper made to fit This apartment really has been visited by the Fairy Godmother: once upon a time it made ten maids’ quarters, now it’s been transformed into a bright, Pumpkin carriage of a home. In the open-plan living room – beneath the vaulted ceiling and steel cross-beams – white walls and polished floors wrap you in a gown of light and space. Grown-ups will love the sophisticated furnishings, bold artwork and the views over the city, while boys and girls will be entranced by the child-sized details of their very own bedrooms. Two make a pair Your hosts, their two fairytale princesses and their baby are so besotted with Paris that they’ve never lived anywhere else. They love roaming the city by scooter, and the ease of having all their friends nearby. Bibbidi-bobbidi-boo Forget your chores as you’re whisked up to the top floor of Rue d’Amsterdam II. All the hard work of renovation was finished in 2013 when your hosts moved in. Each detail of design has been considered – the jaunty bookshelves that nod to the slanting eaves, the patchwork assortment of cushions on the L-shaped sofa – and it won’t disappear when the clock strikes midnight. Must go out to the ball? Don’t fret: you’re so close to the heart of town that the best dining and dancing is never far away.
