You’ve gazed out across the terracotta roofscapes of Rome and breathed in Tuscany’s warm evening air. Now ruminate on the edgy urban fresco of Lower Manhattan from this polished and sharp two bedroom, two bathroom home in the Lower East Side. Clean-cut furnishings and cool embellishments complete a generous open floor plan that invites you to prepare a home-cooked meal – or to have a glass of wine and recount your day’s exploits.
Your host is a world-travelled New Yorker with an accomplished career in finance. He has collected items from around the world, including a handful of subtle and thoughtful touches (like gorgeous cobalt glassware imported from Murano). Enjoy the inviting warmth of his hospitality – he’d cook for you if he could.
La vita è bella
The elevator delivers you directly into the welcome of an open-plan living room, dining room, and kitchen, where the economy of modern European design is the rule. Stay in touch: companions relax in the black leather lounge chairs or at the polished glass and steel dining table while you whip up a feast. Around the corner, the master bedroom is outfitted in rich-hued hardwoods and beautiful floor-to-ceiling vistas, but it’s your private balcony - which peers out over the East River and into nearby Brooklyn - that completes the scene. Play the urban Romeo and Juliet, or enjoy the fresh serenity of an early morning cappuccino as you consider the variegated roofs of Lower Manhattan. The serene bamboo-trimmed master ensuite and guest bathrooms afford the peace of a Mediterranean spa, where generous cubic sink basins and deep, elevated soaking tubs dissolve away city cares.
From the melting pot that is the Lower East Side, strike out northward into the counterculture cradle of the East Village, or sample an unmatched array of dim sum and pint-sized noodle shops to the west in Chinatown. If you’re craving Italian, stroll to Little Italy for a cannoli. But leave your Vespa at home: here you’re equidistant from several subway lines, including the F train, which will whisk you up to Midtown and Queens or off to Brooklyn, as you please.
While there is no wardrobe in the guest bedroom, guests will find a hanging rail for their use.
This home comfortably sleeps two adults, with an additional sofabed and airbed that can be made up upon request bringing the maximum occupancy to four.
