Hold on tight
Battersea Reach is the kind of home you grab on to. A cascade of modern apartments tumbling down towards the Thames, you can shop, eat and drink without even having to put your coat on. Then, when the bottle’s empty and the sun is set, ascend to your happy nest in the sky. Classically pretty artwork and a mix of traditional and modern furniture give this home an atmosphere of real comfort, then, step out onto the balcony for an exhilarating view. You’re just across the water from Fulham and Chelsea, or, follow the bank around to the cafes and restaurants of Battersea Square. For once, your ideal home is well within your reach.
Your hostess is a sporty type. Always active, she darts between London and the continent. Her primary home is just down the road, and she loves being so close to the Thames.
The river outlook is, of course, spectacular, yet when you draw blinds, the main living space transforms into a cosy nook, folding you into the squishy caramel couch. The walls hold a collection of delicate sketches, framed in gilt and wood, and next door the kitchen is smart in black and white. Eat in the bay window atop the chequerboard table, and if the evening’s warm, take your dessert out onto the balcony for one last glimpse of light upon water.
After a shower or bath in this home’s two modern bathrooms it’s time for bed. Head to the sunny single, or the minimalist double, where it’s just you, more of that view, and acres of our cool, crisp linen.
Never let me go
Begin with the restaurant downstairs, then, you might head for the grocers and pubs around Clapham Junction, or along the river into Battersea. There’s a real village feel to this part of town, the watering holes of Battersea Square are packed with regulars, and Battersea Park teems with young families and long-time locals. Cross the Thames to cheer Chelsea FC at Stamford Bridge, or the journey from Wandsworth Town to Oxford Circus takes around twenty five minutes.
Some of the art work in the home is adult themed, and guests may find this is not suitable for children.
