Bromfield Street

Islington, North London

Media village

Islington’s cafes are filled with novelists and screenwriters, sipping fiendishly strong coffee and wrenching scintillating prose from their laptops, while trendy types from nearby Shoreditch and Highbury eye up the funky boutiques. Fresh and eager, it may be, but N1 is all grown up. Just behind the Art Deco splendour of the Business Design Centre sits a grand house, light flooding into every corner of its considerable space. Original fireplaces, floor-to-ceiling windows and gracious rooms come together to create the ultimate story – and the protagonists could well be you.

New bohemians

Your hostess is a TV journalist, specialising in interviews with actors and directors. Her husband manages one of London’s top estate agencies, and so rest assured, he knows everything there is to know about a home. They love living in the bohemian and artistic enclave of Islington, and making this house feel unique.

Arts centre

High ceilings and pared back décor give this tall townhouse a real sense of space, while the pale walls mean that you’ll feel bright even on the dullest days. Look out for the kitchen’s original parquet floor, juxtaposed against the handy modern breakfast bar – from here, you can take your plate, and iPad, into the dining room, or out into the private garden.

Upstairs, the sitting room gazes onto the street below, but before you begin your people watching, take time to appreciate the marble fireplace, renaissance style chairs and the twinkling chandelier. There’s a double bedroom next door, and up the stairs again, you’ll come to the master bedroom. This is beautifully proportioned, with an antique writing desk, leather armchair and a super king-sized bed.

The social network

When you want to connect with London’s media scene, Islington’s just the place. Choose between two cinemas, live music at the Carling Academy or top-class drama at the Almeida theatre. Sadler’s Wells is the premier destination for modern dance, or if you’d rather take a box at Covent Garden, the 38 bus can have you in the West End in less than half an hour. And if you prefer the tube, Highbury and Islington to Oxford Circus takes less than ten minutes.

Home truths

One lovable cat lives at this home. He won't be around during your stay, but this home may not be suitable for people with allergies.

The bed in the master bedroom can be put together as a super king bed, or as two single beds. Please let our reservations department know how you would like this configured.

The host's gardener will be coming to the home every few days in the summer months to water the garden. They have their own set of keys to access the garden, so you do not have to be in. Please speak to our reservations team for more information about this.

This home doesn't have air conditioning. Between June and September, we'll place fans in each bedroom. Please let us know if you'd like fans outside the summer period.

This is a family home and so shows signs of wear and tear.

This home is spread over 4 floors with no internal elevator.
