Coffee, vanilla, sesame, clove and caraway… Butler’s Wharf was erected in 1871 to house some of the world’s rarest commodities. With original brickwork, high ceilings and the Thames rushing directly beneath the windows, that past is never far away. But now, Butler’s Wharf contains something rather different – a spectacular open plan home.
Our homeowner is a traveller as seasoned as any of the ships that once passed by on the water. His business takes him all over the world, where he likes to pick up cartoons; readers of the New Yorker will delight in his extensive collection of original drawings. And what the dockhands would have made of his passion for jazz piano, one can only speculate…
When first those salt-lashed clippers were unloaded, those on the quay gasped with wonder, and so too will you as you as you enter this Grade II converted warehouse. Original windows open out onto the Thames, and, should that prove not spectacular enough, a private balcony directly overlooking Tower Bridge will surely float your boat.
But for all its exposed brickwork and soaring views, Butler’s Wharf is nonetheless a warm and welcoming home. As your feet sink into the creamy expanses of carpeting, you might pad through to the modern kitchen, or flop down onto the snug Liberty print sofa. When the lap lap of the water beings to lull, the comfortable queen-sized bed folds down from the wall, but before you tuck yourself in with our five star bed linen, swab the decks in luxury with our delicious White Company toiletries.
The bed in this home is a double Murphy bed.
This home doesn't have air conditioning. Between June and September, we'll place fans in each bedroom. Please let us know if you'd like fans outside the summer period.
The piano in this home is available for guest use following prior agreement with the homeowner. Please let us know if you would like to use it during your stay.
Cancellation. Provided you book more than 7 days before the start of your stay, you can cancel your booking within 24 hours and we’ll provide a full refund. Our flexible rate offers more flexibility for those who need it. Read our cancellation policy here. Please note bookings for Hamptons and French Riviera have a separate cancellation policy.
Check-in and check-out. We’ll meet you at the home at your convenience any time after 4PM on your arrival date, and our standard check-out time is 11AM. Early check-in and late check-out can be arranged in advance, subject to availability and a charge.
Lead guest. The lead guest must be at least 25 years of age.
I.D. check and card authorisation. When you arrive we’ll check the lead guest’s I.D. and secure a £1,000 hold on a credit or debit card which will be released once we confirm no damage was caused during your stay.
Smoking. Guests are not permitted to smoke inside any onefinestay home.
Cleaning. We carefully clean and prepare each home before you arrive and after you depart, and for stays longer than seven days we provide a complimentary weekly Housekeeping service. More frequent Housekeeping visits can be arranged on request, subject to availability and a charge.
Payment. We accept Visa, Mastercard and American Express, and bank transfers for stays with at least 7 days’ notice.
