Against the grain Up a cobbled alley, Carmarthen Place comes as quite a surprise. Instead of the usual bricks and mortar, this three-floored home is clad in timber. Turn right from the front door to find the master bedroom, where wooden walls are lined with colourful artwork. There’s a shower to one side, and next door is the bathroom. Up a floor you’ll come to the open-plan sitting room and kitchen. Four can sit at the glass-topped dining table, and opposite the leather sofa is a Juliet balcony. Take the second set of stairs to find the second sitting room, which is filled with stylish furniture (we love the red vintage armchair). On the left is the open-plan office, lined with books. Heading through a set of glass doors, you’ll come to the private roof terrace, which has a round table for two.
