Zest for life Rue Cavallotti is the culmination of 20 years’ ambition. First, it was a single attic room, then two, until the final apartment became available and all three spaces were turned into one. Now, an ornamental wood burner dominates one corner of the sitting room, which fuses fifties shapes with Scandi style and orange hues – from the cushions and the wall's artwork. Open the front door and you’ll find you’re just five minutes from the Moulin Rouge, and close to the daily market on Rue Lepic. Walk to Abbesses for bars and restaurants or continue up the cobbled hill to Montmartre. Citrus maxima Your hosts have lived rich and varied lives, one a Scot and one a French national. Passionate gastronomes, they love their home's area for its local eateries, and Paris for its fine food and wine. They divide their time between Rue Cavallotti and London, coming here to relax. Oranges are not the only fruit The floorboards are spread with graphic-print rugs, while the walls are painted a delicate grey – all the better to showcase the bright dining chairs and contemporary canvas. The kitchen’s both well-equipped and modern, with a concrete worktop and a sky-lit stove. By contrast, the bathroom and bedroom are neutral, with just the slightest hint of taupe colouring an otherwise creamy palette.
