Pomp and circumstance
This is the lifestyle of decorous dukes, of ladies clad in Liberty silks and even of young princesses to be. A certain Diana Spencer once lived across the way from Coleherne Court, and we shouldn’t be surprised if you come over rather regal yourself. Obligingly bright and open, this home has space in spades, with a leafy, languid communal garden just through the sitting room's glass doors. But that's not all – beyond this peaceful patch is a path leading to further green space, a rare find for so central a location. While the children amuse themselves in the playroom, why not take a gin and tonic in the sitting room, or, a contemplative stroll around your top-class neighbourhood?
Your hosts have two young children, a boy and a girl – not forgetting Boris, their beloved house cat. They’ve all called Coleherne Court home for over ten years.
This ground floor apartment may be off Old Brompton Road, but it’s whisper quiet – set behind the welcoming communal garden and laden with luxuries you’ll want to shout about. Such as the antique furnishings of the sitting room, the sofas in gentle purple and the white marble fireplace crowned with a gilded mirror. Here, you might sit down and stir your afternoon tea, or go prepare cucumber sandwiches for all in the kitchen before heading into the garden for a picnic. All broad rolling lawns and soaring oaks, you could be adrift in the English countryside.
If the little ones have any energy left after romping around, they’ll love the playroom’s foosball table. You’ve three charismatic bedrooms to choose from: a boyish single, a double with butterflies on the wall and the gorgeously graceful master. The palette is as soft as the linen, and the ensuite suitably upscale. You’ve also a shower room and commodious bathroom.
The cosmopolitan eateries of Earls Court will cater to all palates, while the King’s Road has some of the most sumptuous shopping to be found this side of Selfridges. South Kensington is all about the museums, the music of the Royal Albert Hall and the majesty of Kensington Gardens. And when it comes to town, you’ll be there in double quick time. The tube from Earls Court to Piccadilly Circus takes a little over over ten minutes.
