Where the heart is
Just because you’ve come with your little ones in tow doesn’t mean you’re ready to sink into suburbia. Yet, where to find a home large enough for everyone that’s still a part of the city? Coningham Road has all the answers. A vast Victorian townhouse that’s packed with ornamental fireplaces, bookshelves and sash windows – and it’s practical too, with enough toys to keep the kids amused for days. Kensington and the museums are just a short hop on the tube, or spend an afternoon at nearby Westfield, where you’ve almost infinite shops, restaurants and cafés, and even a multi-screen cinema.
All together now
Your hosts spent a long time looking for their London home, and when they found it, they filled it with life and colour. They’ve made it a project to try every restaurant on nearby Uxbridge Road, and they love nothing more than spending Sunday afternoons lingering over a long, lazy pub lunch.
The kitchen’s been designed with many in mind, so not only have you a huge oven, American-style fridge freezer and acres of granite worktop, but there’s a breakfast bar for mini sous-chefs, and a stripped wood dining table. Doors open out onto the garden, and if drizzle threatens, there’s a playroom next door, complete with beanbags, picture books and a TV.
Grownups can retreat to a more formal sitting room on the first floor, where hares joust against a backdrop of autumnal wallpaper. And while the bedrooms are too many to detail to here, special mention must be given to the master, with its tones of blue and gold, and sunny ensuite holding a walk-in shower and traditional roll-top bath.
Pets are very much welcome in this home.
The fireplaces in this home are ornamental.
There is no door between the open plan ensuite bathroom and master bedroom.
