Oranges and lemons
A stylish bolthole, a rural refuge, a playground - East Churchfield Road is all of these things, and so much more. Managing to balance disparate elements with an ease that’s nigh on incredible, this is a house to satisfy the whole family. Adults will adore the tasteful interiors and classy furniture, while even the grumpiest teens will find themselves drawn into a game of table tennis. And, if you can tear your youngest from the garden’s climbing wall and tepee, you’ll find Acton Park a gorgeous spot for a walk, while nearby Turnham Green has cute independent boutiques, artisan cafes and grocers, and a terrific clutch of child friendly restaurants.
Sing a song of sixpence
Your host is a busy entrepreneur. He lives here with his two adorable children, and they all try to spend as much time as possible together in their beloved home.
Round and round the garden
A trampoline, a climbing wall, a Wendy house and a tepee, all set between mature trees on a tufted lawn – you won’t want to come inside. But when you do, you’ll find a sizeable eat-in kitchen, its smart units concealing a wealth of useful appliances. The sunny conservatory doubles as a playroom, and then, for the grownups, there’s a cosy sitting room, its chic grey walls hung with restful art.
There are two soothing double bedrooms, their chandeliers throwing glimmering gleams upon rich, deep walls. The master bedroom is especially spacious, and a short flight of steps leads you down into its sumptuous ensuite. The children’s bedrooms are as much fun as you’d expect. There’s a sweet single with rose pink walls and an original fireplace, and a bunk bedded twin that’s simply swimming with books and toys.
Ring a roses
Quiet, friendly and decidedly residential, after a day ricocheting around Zone One, Chiswick will come as a blessed relief. You’ve a park almost opposite, and you’re just a few minutes’ walk from Chiswick High Road and Turnham Green. Nudge between the bugaboos and scooters to find coffee shops and a range of independent boutiques alongside much-loved neighbourhood restaurants and handy grocers. And you’re right next to the station, so getting into the West End is child’s play – the journey from Acton Central to Oxford Circus takes a little over half an hour.
