Where the heart is
Put down your bag and breathe a sigh of relief, for here is the home you’ve always wanted. Colourful, pretty, and above all, tremendously inviting, you’ll feel yourself letting go the moment your key turns in the lock. Vintage textiles and original art give the bright rooms a lustre of cheerful calm, and the roof terrace is the ideal spot for your morning coffee. Amble down to the river and feed the ducks or explore Devonshire Road’s independent boutiques and neighbourhood restaurants. Then, at home, sit back and relax. This is where you are supposed to be.
Your hostess is an actress who spends her spare time painting. She loves vibrant colours and quirky furniture, and her home is as creative as she is.
There’s something of the country cottage about Eastbury Grove’s sitting room. Large windows light up your hostess’ paintings, an exquisitely tiled Victorian fireplace and a groovy hot pink chair. Four can be seated at the antique table, and those snazzy sofa cushions are simply begging to be snuggled. The kitchen is as cosy as it is practical, with everything you might need beneath a worktop of caramel oak.
The first double bedroom, painted in soft dove grey, is on the same floor as the main living space, and with it, the family bathroom, where you’ll find a tub, fluffy towels and a stash of our White Company toiletries. The peaceful master bedroom is up on the second floor, nestled beneath the eaves. Here, too, is a brand new ensuite shower room with natural stone walls. Return to the hallway, open the doors and you’re out on the roof terrace, where you can dine among your hostess’ potted plants, and watch the moon rise over the chimney pots.
Feeling hungry? Whether it’s Michelin starred La Trompette or a humble pizza, you won’t be short on places to eat, and a stroll along the river will soon bring you to some ancient watering holes. Check out the weekly farmers’ market on Duke’s Meadows, walk to Barnes or, for a bit more buzz, down to Hammersmith. The tube from Turnham Green to Piccadilly Circus takes around twenty five minutes.
This home is not suitable for toddlers, although babies and children over 12 years old are welcome.
The bed in the second bedroom can only be accessed from one side.
This home doesn't have air conditioning. Between June and September, we'll place fans in each bedroom. Please let us know if you'd like fans outside the summer period.
A gardener will be tending to the terrace during the Summer months on Tuesdays and Fridays between 2 and 3 PM. The gardener has their own keys and will access the terrace via the home.
