A fine art
Artworks provide a splash of colour against the light palette of Egerton Place. From the 3D butterflies on the kitchen’s mirror to the abstract crimson swirls in the master bedroom and vibrant beach shots in the twin, here art is the distinctive finishing touch. Punctuated with rich purples and aubergines (and furnished with Grange furniture), this home’s neutral base reflects the refined aura that pervades this part of town. Relax in the upholstered, velveteen armchairs and enjoy a spot of tea, then slip out onto the smart streets of Knightsbridge, past your own private square – from here, Harrods is just a five-minute walk.
Painting by numbers
Having met in the London financial markets and now living in Melbourne, your high-flying hosts travel the world for work, pleasure and collecting art. Their airy pied-a-terre is the perfect place for them to enjoy the company of friends this side of the pond.
In the frame
Though set on its own private square, this Victorian home (built in 1890) is anything but remote. Indeed, you’re well-positioned to take advantage of the designer shops and restaurants of Knightsbridge and Chelsea, the museums and galleries of South Kensington or the verdant expanse of Hyde Park. But no matter your path, when you return home be sure to enjoy a refreshing soak in the bath in the elegant marble and glass master bathroom. Spend indulgent evenings enjoying a cosy dinner for four at the welcoming dining table, or take inspiration from your surroundings at the sweet writing desk in the master bedroom – here an ornate black chandelier and soft taupe furnishings complete the picture.
