World wise Warm Italian leather. Richly piled Persian carpets. French poise. Knit together the very finest from the four corners and you’ve got 14th Street II, a gracious four bedroom, three bathroom town home in the leafy heart of Park Slope. With its vintage parquet floors, crisp bay windows, and sculpted mouldings, this brownstone is classic Brooklyn bones. But twinkling chandeliers, hand-painted china, and artisanal textiles, too, lend a trademark worldliness. Free birds Spot their books upon books upon books, and you won’t be surprised to learn that your hosts are a literary family of the first order. Only moments from the gentle slopes of Prospect Park, they love to spend their together-time there in thought and play. Soldier of fortune A tumbling trailway of Persian carpets blazes a vivid path into a melting pot heartland. Trace intricate whorls and fringed medallions past a passageway library and into the warm, gold-toned sitting room. Indulge in a luxe layover beside a tin-plated fireplace embellished with fleurs-de-lys, then jet set to the dining room, a stately chamber panelled in dark wood wainscoting, beams, and mouldings. Relax in the cushioned window seat carved at the foot of beaming bay windows before calling mealtime to order below a glittering chandelier - or take to more casual fare in the kitchen’s cosy dining nook. Heave anchor for higher floors, where one brilliantly lit and uniquely personable bedchamber follows after another. On the top floor, a periwinkle and pale lemon-merengue master bedroom is adorned with a triptych vanity and printed fainting sofa, and a tempting study-library bursts with intriguing volumes - just the way to finish off a busy day’s journeys round the city. Planes, trains, and automobiles Lush, family-friendly Park Slope unfolds up tree-lined hills to border on sprawling Prospect Park. Here you really and truly are a stone’s throw from the Central Park of Brooklyn, a network of rolling hills, streams, and venerable trees decked out in every emerald hue. For more of artsy, refreshing Brooklyn (or for easy access to Manhattan-side thrills), it’s all aboard the G or F respectively at 15th Street-Prospect Park a moment away.
