Contemporary and cool
Pimlico is one of those areas that proves practical can be sexy. Everything you need from London sits on your doorstep, and anything you want just a stone’s throw away. This golden nugget in Westminster treats its guests to large green spaces, stunning riverside views and grand golden squares. And yep – you’ve guessed it, St. George’s Square is one such sought-after place. Regal on the outside, modern on the inside, you’ll leave your stay in this home fully satisfied.
The renovation of this basement flat echo a chic, minimalist style derived from Japan – somewhere your hosts have spent a lot of time. Well-travelled, but brought up in London, she knows what makes the perfect city pad. But they also appreciate best in British and now they spend most of their time in their Georgian home in Devon.
Considering you’re standing in the middle of central London, you won’t believe how quiet and idyllic this magnificent square is. This home has been reborn from a state of dereliction to an open-plan haven – the kind you see in glossy magazines.
With almost no internal walls, you can dance around like no one’s watching. But as you’re twirling, marvel in the little touches that make this a home – stunning pictures from trips abroad, stacks of hardback beautiful books and the odd trinket from somewhere far away and fascinating.
Straight down the hallway, you’ll see the sitting room that leads straight on to the Japanese-style patio – stunningly romantic at night with little candles and low lighting. The kitchen is sleek and modern, and the bathroom is everything you’d want from a top class hotel, while you’ll find the master bedroom a little more homely, though still retaining a sprinkling of international hints that make the home so unique.
The modern touches
Once you can bear to drag yourself away from this chic delight, you’ll find a whole bag of treats all around you. From there, it’s easy access to the arts centres at the South Bank and Covent Garden is just a bridge away from there. You’ve got the Royal Court at Sloane Square as well as the shops, bars and restaurants of the Kings Road. Put simply, the whole of London is your oyster from here.
