Icing on the cake
The Victorians were imaginative, whimsical, ambitious and proud, and they really knew how to build houses. And with its high ceilings, beautiful floors and large windows, Kelfield Gardens is a wonderful example of the most enduringly popular of London homes. Functional and spacious, with just the lightest dusting of historical grandeur, it's the ideal place to bring your family. Inside, it's recently refurbished, with an enormous kitchen extension, while the interiors are simple and modern, with a few delightful twists.
Your hostess is currently juggling her new cake decorating business with looking after her gorgeous two year old boy and five year old girl. She’s originally from California, while her partner hails from Dublin.
You’ll love the original flooring in Kelfield Gardens, and keep your eyes down for the sitting room’s stunning floral rug. The windows flood the space with sunshine, so put on the tv, take a book from the loaded shelves, or flex your fingers at one of the two pianos. Down the hall you’ll find the enormous kitchen diner, light pouring in from the glass roof and the doors onto the garden. Eat outside on the decked terrace, at the round dining table, or at the funky breakfast bar, and then head upstairs.
On the first floor you’ll find the master bedroom, looking over the garden, with a dressing room and a glamorous en suite bathroom with a deep tub and a walk in shower. You've a further comfortable double, with antique furniture and a curly wrought iron bed, a family bathroom, and the sweet bedroom of the young master of the house, with bunk beds, a toy chest, and, should you require it, a cot. Up on the second floor is a pretty single bedroom, with romantically sloping ceilings, a library of children’s books, and plenty of space to play.
Slice of the action
You’re just a ten minute walk from the lively streets of Notting Hill, with the world famous Portobello Road antiques market, and all manner of bars, boutiques and restaurants. But first, explore the cosmopolitan cafes of Ladbroke Grove, and you must be sure to fit in a visit to Westfield, one of Europe’s largest shopping centres. Or, if you want to get into town, the tube can have you in the thick of the action in around twenty minutes.
The bunk bed sleeps two children or one adult. There is also room to put a double airbed down if the whole family are coming to stay.
This home doesn't have air conditioning. Between June and September, we'll place fans in each bedroom. Please let us know if you'd like fans outside the summer period.
There is no wardrobe in the third bedroom so we will provide a hanging rail for storage.
