The good old days Perched on the hill just above the Sunset Strip, Mountcrest Avenue is a classic Hollywood home, built in the 1920s Spanish Revival style. A staircase leads up from the garden gate to the front door, which takes you straight to a sitting room. This inviting space has a working fireplace, comfortable seating and a Moroccan-style chandelier. On the right is the adjoining dining room – smarter still, with a polished table and pale-green chairs. Next is the classic kitchen, where a door opens into a second sitting room with a sofabed and its own bathroom. And out through another door you’ll find the tiered garden, with its palm-shaded patio (with space to dine) and a cabana with stunning views. From the dining room, a staircase takes you up to the first floor. On the right here is the second bedroom, which has an ensuite and a balcony, next to the book-filled office. On the left, there’s the master bedroom – a quietly elegant room with an old-style ensuite and views across Los Angeles.
