We just can’t get enough of this ultra-funky home. Luckily, there’s plenty of it to go round… Behind the traditional Victorian façade, floors have been taken out, and in their place there’s a staggering atrium reaching up, up into the sky. Combine this stunning space with bursts of pigment, sheets of glass, and stylishly quirky décor, and you’ve a truly extraordinary London home. You’re steps away from Notting Hill Gate, so whether it’s a visit to Kensington Gardens, a day at Portobello Road Market or just a box of Hummingbird cupcakes, you’ll be smiling from dawn till dusk.
Arts and crafts
Your French hostess is an artist, while your British host is in business. A bi-lingual family, they love the bohemian feel of Notting Hill, and the villagey atmosphere of their square.
Open the front door and let this home unfold before your eyes... there’s a gallery atmosphere to the large, airy rooms, their white walls punctuated by explosions of colour. Eclectic, modern and playful, you’ll be spun back into a second childhood by the berry-bright furniture and groovy art. The kitchen, dining room and music room all flow from the main space, and you can relax in both the funky sitting room and the gigantic reading room.
The garden is large, while the two children’s bedrooms are filled with books and toys. The master bedroom is sophisticated without ever straying into pretension, and there’s a real elegance to the ensuite. There are two further bathrooms, one in a rich and luminescent purple, and do be sure to peek into the first floor artists’ studio, to marvel at your hostess’ work.
Out and about
It would take quite a location to match up to this home, but if anywhere can do it, it’s Notting Hill. Pastel houses, cute independent shops and welcoming restaurants line the streets around Portobello Road, and at the weekends the pavements fill for the world-famous market. Stay out late, or rise with the birds to jog around Hyde Park. The tube from Notting Hill Gate to Oxford Circus takes eight minutes.
This home accepts babies and children over the age of 7, but does not accept toddlers.
The bunk beds are only suitable for children.
There is no wardrobe in the master bedroom so we will provide a hanging rail for storage.
