And it’s here that you’ll find Leonard Street, a brand new apartment with views of the Shard and some uber-fab designer furniture. Bright, warm, and oh-so-quiet, this slick city pad is just the place to crash after a long day in town. The later the hour, the more Shoreditch swings, so make the very most of that disco nap… Good sports Your host runs his own consultancy firm, and his primary home is in Windsor. He and your hostess are keenly athletic – look out for his collection of cycling memorabilia in the hall. Instant gratification The sitting room of Leonard Street is as energetic as you’d expect. Album covers sing from the walls, while Eames chairs perch atop a shining wooden floor. The snazzy kitchen’s been built to the highest specifications, and you can eat either at the breakfast bar, or café-style beneath the Flatiron Building. The cream leather sofa’s enlivened by zinging turquoise throws, and the charcoal corner sofa folds out into a bed, and can be concealed behind a sliding screen. The master bedroom is relaxed and spacious, with mirrored bedside tables and acres of milkily plush carpet, while the bathroom’s white tiles are given a touch of drama with clever concealed lighting. All kinds of everything You’ve some of London’s top nightlife within a brief stagger – the bars of Hoxton Square, Jamie Oliver’s restaurant Fifteen, and, on Shoreditch High Street, the best Vietnamese food outside Hanoi. Hipsters should head for Spitalfields Market for one-off pieces by new designers, while suited types will find that they’re within walking distance of the City. And if you’re visiting the West End, the tube from Old Street to Oxford Circus takes fifteen minutes.
