Whether one sees the world in black and white or in shades of grey, there comes a time when we all hanker after a little colour. Take Chapelside- in this three bedroom apartment the palette is as varied as the furniture is plush. Crimson cushions bob upon ocean-blue sofas, while chestnut floors reflect the sheen of pearly white walls. Outside, you’ll find Bayswater every bit as prismatic. Paint the town red in nearby Notting Hill, or go for a green stroll through Hyde Park. In a location like this, you can find your true colours reflected in a spectrum of possibilities.
Your hosts certainly lead colourful lives. They’ve lived in both the Orient and Eastern Europe in the past, and have three children – one of whom is a musician.
Over the rainbow
The sitting room is a real delight for the senses. Light bounces off the brilliantly white walls and ceiling, making a canvas for some delicious strokes of colour. You’ve an L-shaped sofa of the deepest blue and a whole spectrum of cushions to get comfy on. Tuck in at the honeyed wooden table, or feed the intangible appetite with the tasty hues of the artwork-clad walls. The kitchen is tinctured an cool cream, in which you’ll be able to whip up something just as delicious.
When you’ve eaten your fill, go find the single bedroom, where silver and white stripes bar the room in peace and Victorian furniture whispers quiet elegance. The twin bedroom is a peaceful study in white, while the master bedroom positively glows – think radiant white walls and a king size bed swathed in crisp linen. After, why not add some colour to your cheeks in the gleaming ensuite, your soles warmed by the underfloor heating, or go for a lengthy soak in the bathroom?
Chapelside’s superb setting is enough to turn anyone green with envy. Watch the flowers shiver in bloom at Kensington Gardens, or go picnic beside the Serpentine – Hyde Park is a mere acorn’s throw from your door. On Sundays, Bayswater Road stages an open-air art exhibition, while the bars and restaurants of lively Notting Hill are but a brisk walk away. Stroll to Queensway tube station, and you can be in the vivid rush of Oxford Circus in just seven minutes.
There is limited hanging space in the single bedroom, but we will provide a hanging rail for clothes.
