Wonderful, delightful, and London through and through, Minford Gardens is effervescent with joy. There’s a definite creativity to these pretty rooms, full of antiques, original art and petal-strewn patterns. And beyond the glass lies Shepherd’s Bush, a relaxed neighbourhood within walking distance of Kensington, Holland Park and Notting Hill. Taste your way through the international restaurants that line the common, or amble down to Hammersmith’s fashionable bars that line the Thames.
Your hosts are a young married couple who run their own gin distillery, often flying between London and San Francisco for work. They’ve filled their home with reminders of the countryside, and some sweet mementos from their recent wedding day.
Down on the lower ground floor, the enormous kitchen manages to be both contemporary and utterly timeless, perhaps because of the farmhouse dining table, the butchers’ tiles and its palette of the gentlest oatmeals, creams and whites. Full-height doors open out onto a sizeable garden, and there’s a snug sitting room next door. While upstairs, the drawing room intoxicates in Oxford blue, with two majestic marble fireplaces, snuggly textiles and shelves of well-thumbed books.
All three bedrooms emanate a delicate charm, the master especially so. Here flowers are everywhere, from the hand-papered wardrobe doors to the walls of the marbled ensuite.
Unfortunately the fireplaces in the home are not available for guests to use during their stay.
The kitchen and the sitting room are located on the lower ground floor, which means they get less daylight than the other rooms of the home. But they are all the more snug for being so.
The home is spread across four floors so there are lots of steps from top to bottom.
The host's mother will occasionally visit to tend the garden, and will let herself into the home. As she will mainly be working in the garden, she won't cause much disturbance to your relaxing stay. Please contact our reservations team for more details.
Since listing their home, the host has installed a wooden play pen suitable for babies 6 months and younger in the bay window of the second sitting room.
