Within one’s ken Spread across the top two floors of a Victorian mansion, Onslow Gardens II is airy and pleasant. There’s a sense of the exotic to this home. The Indian throw, the jewel-bright cushions and worldly artwork all give the feel of a life well-travelled. And that it is: your hostess is a qualified pilot (in her spare time) and has brought back trinkets, like the Egyptian brass coffee table and Thai statues from her adventures. There’s an open-plan kitchen and dining room (seats six) and a living room with views from the Victorian windows out over the street. Upstairs you’ll find two double bedrooms, the second of which can be set up as twin singles. But to fully understand this home’s appeal – and to get views of South Ken and beyond – head up again to the private roof terrace.
