There aren’t too many apartments in the heart of Chelsea with their own front door. But this marvel is one of them. Half between the King’s Road and the river, you’ll find Ormonde Gate, an elegant duplex arranged over the ground and lower-ground floors of an Edwardian mansion block. Antique furniture, porcelain and classic pieces are situated around this apartment for the most grown-up of grown-ups. But it’s also designed for comfort. Your hosts understand what it is to live well. So pull up one of the many well-upholstered chairs, choose a novel from a bookcase and indulge yourself.

Ormonde Gate is the beautifully-designed London pied à terre of a doctor and his wife, a marketing consultant. When they’re not using it as a base to visit London’s art galleries, theatres and the opera, they divide their time between their houses in Dorset and France.

Open the door from the hall and you’ll find yourself in a vast, light-filled reception room. One side functions as a sitting-room – well-chosen, plump armchairs and commodious sofas abound – while the other has a formal dining table, with a huge bay window overlooking the street, where you can create a sumptuous dinner for eight. The kitchen is next door, all soft blues and pools of light – quite the place for your breakfast. Away from the formal and public, downstairs are the private rooms: two large bedrooms beautifully decorated in the country style, each with an ensuite bathroom. And as the pièce de résistance, you (and only about 20 others) have direct access to a shared, private garden straight from the sitting room. And just a minute's walk from the home there's a Santander Cycle Hire Station, too.


The area around Ormonde Gate is as recherché and refined as the apartment. Cross the road to sample some of London's finest museums, take a stroll along the river, or pop into one of the many Michelin-starred restaurants in the area. If you want to head into the west end, Sloane Square tube is a ten-minute walk and then you’re only 15 minutes from the centre of town. There is also a Santander Bike station just 250m down the street for you to explore the city further by bike.

Home truths

One loveable dog lives in this home. While he won't be around during your stay, this home may not be suitable for people with allergies.

Some traffic noise can be heard from inside the kitchen and sitting room.

There is no permanent hanging space in the master bedroom so the homeowner will provide a hanging rail for storage.

The utility room is accessed via a storage room which is not prepared for use during your stay.

The beds in the second bedroom can be set up either as two single beds or as a king. Please let us know when you book if how you would like the beds prepared.

This home doesn't have air conditioning. Between June and September, we'll place fans in each bedroom. Please let us know if you'd like fans outside the summer period.

This home is spread over two floors with no internal elevator.


Cancellation. Provided you book more than 7 days before the start of your stay, you can cancel your booking within 24 hours and we’ll provide a full refund. Our flexible rate offers more flexibility for those who need it. Read our cancellation policy here. Please note bookings for Hamptons and French Riviera have a separate cancellation policy.

Check-in and check-out. We’ll meet you at the home at your convenience any time after 4PM on your arrival date, and our standard check-out time is 11AM. Early check-in and late check-out can be arranged in advance, subject to availability and a charge.

Lead guest. The lead guest must be at least 25 years of age.

I.D. check and card authorisation. When you arrive we’ll check the lead guest’s I.D. and secure a £1,000 hold on a credit or debit card which will be released once we confirm no damage was caused during your stay.

Smoking. Guests are not permitted to smoke inside any onefinestay home.

Cleaning. We carefully clean and prepare each home before you arrive and after you depart, and for stays longer than seven days we provide a complimentary weekly Housekeeping service. More frequent Housekeeping visits can be arranged on request, subject to availability and a charge.

Payment. We accept Visa, Mastercard and American Express, and bank transfers for stays with at least 7 days’ notice.
