Rue Pelleport

Nation - Père-Lachaise, Right Bank

Belleville rendez-vous

The birthplace of Edith Piaf, Belleville is the very essence of Paris. Knots of lively streets, their pavements abuzz with cafés, bakeries and bars, give way to the Parc de Belleville, a serene swathe of green with vistas to rival those of the Sacré Coeur. And the view from Rue Pelleport’s roof terrace is pretty spectacular too. In fact, this lofty apartment will open your eyes wide – enormous windows in every room, the inside is as glorious as the out. Carefully-chosen contemporary décor is enlivened by the occasional zing of colour, and the effect is welcoming, unusual and, like Edith, full of heart.

T’es beau, tu sais

Your hosts are a family of four who’ve lived in Hong Kong and Beijing. It was during this time that they acquired a number of the pieces that now adorn Rue Pelleport, and these, combined with their home’s lofty perch, give its handsome rooms their sense of balance and calm.

Je ne regrette rien

Not only is this home quiet but its rooms are particularly spacious – delightful after a hard day’s jostling your way around the Louvre. The sitting room has just a few pieces of furniture resting upon the glossy wooden floor, while the dining table is positioned to take full advantage of the city skyline. There are three bedrooms: a twin, a double, and a luxurious master with a large bed and acres of creamy carpet. But despite all this, you may have one regret - that you didn’t come here sooner.
