Formerly the shop and office of designer Cath Kidston, this intriguing renovation will delight you with its high ceilings and clever perspectives. Clean, concrete lines and natural wood finishes give a strong, bold look, tempered by soft leather and plush rugs and cushions: your eyes will be drawn up, down and across by the mixed floor levels and double height spaces. Natural light beams through large windows and dances between levels, creating a playful living space for guests seeking a hideaway. And why not, here in Holland Park, where the fashionable gather to be seen and talked of?
The house bears the Italian influences of your host, a Tuscan farmer. He harvests olives and makes scrumptious olive oil, which guests will be welcome to taste and drizzle.
Angles and patterns
Architecture fiends will enjoy taking in the sharp angles and piecing together the perspectives of this open plan home. Let natural light cascade over you through skylights and internal windows. There are seven rooms in all, including two bathrooms, interconnected and tessellated in mischievous ways – once you’ve stepped into a room, the pathway into it looks different somehow. Old on the outside, modern on the inside – just like London itself – this luxurious house has spaces carved out for sleep, relaxation, study, music and dining. The grotto bathroom is a piece of theatre, with its concrete walls and surfaces and striking blue lighting, all softened up with our fluffy white towels. And the final piece of the puzzle is the tranquil roof terrace, which traps the sun and makes it all yours.
Holland Park is, at heart, a park, and a very lovely one at that, with its own Orangery, some tennis courts and a Japanese garden. Rippling out from the park is an elegant district of fine shops, grand town houses and stylish cafes – and venture a little further for Notting Hill and Portobello Road, a wonderland of antiques. Somewhat surprisingly, this elegant, leafy area is just ten minutes from Oxford Circus by tube.
There is limited phone reception on the lower ground floor of this home.
The staircase to the first floor does not have a bannister.
The bathroom on the second level has interconnecting doors to both the master bedroom and the second bedroom.
This home doesn't have air conditioning. Between June and September, we'll place fans in each bedroom. Please let us know if you'd like fans outside the summer period.
There is a possibility that viewings will be taking place in the home.
This home is spread over three floors with no internal elevator.
Cancellation. Provided you book more than 7 days before the start of your stay, you can cancel your booking within 24 hours and we’ll provide a full refund. Our flexible rate offers more flexibility for those who need it. Read our cancellation policy here. Please note bookings for Hamptons and French Riviera have a separate cancellation policy.
Check-in and check-out. We’ll meet you at the home at your convenience any time after 4PM on your arrival date, and our standard check-out time is 11AM. Early check-in and late check-out can be arranged in advance, subject to availability and a charge.
Lead guest. The lead guest must be at least 25 years of age.
I.D. check and card authorisation. When you arrive we’ll check the lead guest’s I.D. and secure a £1,000 hold on a credit or debit card which will be released once we confirm no damage was caused during your stay.
Smoking. Guests are not permitted to smoke inside any onefinestay home.
Cleaning. We carefully clean and prepare each home before you arrive and after you depart, and for stays longer than seven days we provide a complimentary weekly Housekeeping service. More frequent Housekeeping visits can be arranged on request, subject to availability and a charge.
Payment. We accept Visa, Mastercard and American Express, and bank transfers for stays with at least 7 days’ notice.
