Channelling the vibe of a five star hotel, but with all the space and privacy you could possibly desire, Pond Place is one heck of a home. Recently renovated, every last detail is brand new, and its spacious rooms are cool, glossy and gorgeously luxurious. The museums and Kensington Gardens are only five minutes away, and Harrods sings its siren song from nearby Knightsbridge. Or, cross down into Chelsea and King’s Road for all sorts of yummy shops, bars, cafes and restaurants. You’re in one of the most desirable neighbourhoods not only in London, but in the world. And it’s not hard to see why.
At your service
Your hostess works in finance while your host is in real estate, and he used all his professional knowledge in choosing their home. A young couple about to be married, they’ve had a busy few months, gutting and redesigning Pond Place, interspersed with trips across the globe.
The lower ground floor is open plan, extending out and up onto a galleried living room above. The slick kitchen features a bespoke dining area and acres of white marble worktops, their units filled with all the appliances you’d expect of such an exclusive home. The alluringly contemporary sitting room houses low-slung designer furniture, from which you can look out across gently swaying slivers of silver. Naturally, both double bedrooms have large ensuites, and the master bedroom also has its own enormous dressing room. This opulent space is carpeted in heady violet, with an illuminated mirror to ensure your makeup is never less than perfect. Not that you’ll need to conceal any dark bags, for the master bedroom’s bed is so vast, and so infinitely comfy, that you could stay tucked up in here forever.
Banqueting and events
You’re midway between Sloane Square and Kensington’s museums, and surrounded by enticing cafes wafting the scent of fresh pastry out into the peaceful streets. Chelsea and Knightsbridge both host a huge range of international designers, while Kensington High Street’s the place to head for great British brands like Topshop and Marks and Spencer. Take your morning jog around the Serpentine, or feed the ducks on the Thames – all in the knowledge that the journey from South Kensington to Covent Garden lasts only ten minutes.
