Far and wide
Rue du Grand Prieuré’s neat rooms are filled with your host’s collection of exotic heirlooms – the marionettes were bought by her grandfather from Bali, the antique mirror once belonged to her grandmother, and the polished wooden trunk is from India and was a gift from her uncle. The neutral-toned walls are just as enlightening – the bold paintings and artworks were created by her artist friends, and the exotic rugs and throws are keepsakes from her time in Turkey and South Africa. With well-stocked bookshelves and a writing desk, there’s space to reflect, or head out for tea at your host’s favourite café, Café Charbon.
The ardent traveller
Your host is a comedienne and she entertains audiences across Europe and beyond. When she isn’t performing, she enjoys taking time out at home – translating contemporary plays from Italian to French, or socialising with her many friends who live nearby.
Closer to home
The smart kitchen and dining table are arranged in the corner of the living area. On the same level is the peaceful bathroom and bedroom – simply decorated with a marble-topped dresser. The collection of travel mementos is impressive, but the picturesque Canal Saint-Martin area is worth venturing out for. Just five minutes from the doorstep you’ll find the tree-flanked waterway and pretty bridges, while the riverbank is lined with local restaurants and bars. The whole area is bicycle-friendly, too.
There are stairs up to the entrance of this home, and no elevator.
There is no hanging space in the master bedroom, so we will set up a hanging rail for your stay.

The homeowner has made a few changes since the photos were taken. There is now parquet flooring throughout the home, and the boiler in the kitchen is now covered in a cupboard.
