The house is located in a quiet residential neighborhood in the center of Aix-en-Provence. The train station is only a few minutes away, so that guests can arrive and depart without hassle. The heart of the city is only 200 m from the house: a quick and easy walk. And Aix, listed as a City of Art and History, is great place to explore on foot: not only to soak in its inimitable Provencal flavor, but also to discover its impressive architectural heritage. Among the absolute musts: the Cours Mirabeau, the heart of the city; the historical center, with its maze of alleyways, lovely squares and fountains; the Musee Granet and Cezanne’s studio-workshop. There’s always plenty to do on the cultural front, and a well-stocked agenda of exhibitions, music festivals and other artistic events. The various outdoor markets in Aix are also a fabulous experience in their own right, and don’t miss out on the chance to savor Provencal cuisine in one of the city’s world-class restaurants or in one of its more modest but excellent bistros. There are innumerable trips to take in areas around Aix-en-Provence: for example, the Montagne Sainte-Victoire for hiking and nature enthusiasts, the hilltop villages of the Luberon, and Marseille (40 min away), its Vieux Port and the beautiful, hidden coves along its rocky coast.
