The house, very centrally located in Saint-Martin-de-Re, is a perfect pied-a-terre for making the most of the capital of the Ile de Re. It’s just a short walk away from the harbor wharves, where people gather to enjoy the sun, a drink on a cafe terrace, an ice cream or to mosey around the boutiques: a typically Re-style atmosphere. There are a number of excellent restaurants and bistros in the town center, as well as everything you need for your stay: stores, a market and bakery, are all within easy reach. In the flower-lined lanes of Saint-Martin, you’ll taste the magic of an exceptional historical heritage: beautiful old homes, the bell tower of the Saint-Martin church (with a stunning view!), the Vauban citadel and its imposing bulwarks (Unesco). Saint-Martin is a great starting point to explore the lle de Re in all its facets: the long, sandy beaches of the Atlantic coast, the picturesque villages, the salt marshes and oyster farms, the markets and their local produce. With its over 100km of smooth, even cycling paths, there’s plenty of trips to take by bike, an absolute must on the Ile de Re!
