La petite aixoise

Aix-en-Provence area, Provence

The property, only a short drive away from the delightful town-center of Aix-en-Provence, is set in quiet, green surroundings, ideal for taking it easy: you’d think you were in the country! The house’s layout is both simple and practical; the four bedrooms are divided between the two floors and share two shower rooms. On the ground floor, the living room, dining room and fully equipped kitchen are grouped together in one single modern and stylish living area, all opening wide on to the garden. The garden itself provides guests with many opportunities to take advantage of the splendid Provencal summers: a terrace with a dining table shaded by beautiful plane trees, a pergola, a 7x5m swimming pool with deckchairs and even a hammock: what more can you possibly ask for! The house is located in Bouenhoure, northwest of Aix, a quiet, green residential neighborhood, a prelude to the country. A short, 10-min drive will get you to the very heart of the town. Aix-en-Provence, listed as a City of Art and History, has a charm all of its own. Take your time strolling through the streets of the historic district, with its shady little squares and refreshing fountains, and the handsome facades of the local town houses, to fully appreciate its Provencal atmosphere and impressive architectural heritage. Don’t miss the chance to sit and relax at a terrace on the Cours Mirabeau, and watch the world slowly go by. The various outdoor markets, one of the joys of Aix-en-Provence, are also an absolute must. The town has pride of place on the cultural scene: between the Musee Granet, the Natural History Museum, Cezanne’s studio-workshop, and the numerous art shows and festivals which take place all year round, you’ll have a busy schedule ahead of you! There are many trips to take in the surrounding areas, including the Roquefavour Aqueduct and the archeological site at Entremont, and of course, the Montagne Sainte-Victoire, the symbol of Aix, and a perfect destination for hiking and nature enthusiasts. There’s also Marseille and its rocky inlets, Les Baux-de-Provence and the Alpilles Mountains, the hilltop villages of the Luberon, all within an hour’s drive of Aix.
