Home sweet home In Rue Scheffer II, the delicate silk curtains, antique cabinets and velvet sofas are decadent, and the furnishings have been found from all over the globe. With elephant statuettes, faded oil paintings and oriental rugs, the sitting room is elegant and exotic. And there are lavish patterns too. The bedroom’s pink floral-print walls match the striped curtains and botanical prints, while the bathroom’s shower curtain complements the traditional wallpaper. And through the sitting room’s French doors is a terrace that’s equally ornate, where ivy curls around the table and chairs. Settled in Your host loves painting and interior design, and has brought much of the furniture and artwork here back from South Africa, where she’s from. Her favourite room is the study. Made to match Rue Scheffer II’s cosy rooms are decorated in warming shades, with antique furnishings collected from Scotland, South Africa and Kenya. The kitchen is coloured in sage, the cupboards and tiles the same hue, and potted plants align on the window sill. The study’s collection of books is so impressive it requires a ladder to access the top shelves, while below a sofa and writing table form a quiet reading nook. Nearby in Trocadéro there are exquisite gardens and traditional market to explore. Find your host’s favourite eatery, Café du Trocadéro, near to the Eiffel Tower, or sample authentic cuisine at the other close-by bistros.
