City living With vibrant Chelsea on your doorstep and the King’s Road’s boutiques and galleries close by too, this home’s peaceful rooms might come as a surprise. All white space and fresh designs, you’ll find the style is pared-back, with the occasional decadent touch: from gilded mirrors to silken curtains. Enter through the contemporary kitchen and dining area where high, corniced ceilings and arched windows are paired with sleek cabinetry and bright artworks. The three stylish bedrooms are on the lower-ground floor, where you’ll also find the sweet patio decked with flower pots and shady trellises. Cool heads Despite the lure of the city, your hosts live for the country. He works in finance, and they swap their Chelsea home for their Chilterns retreat as often as they can. High-end Honey-toned floorboards and plain walls are a refreshing backdrop for your hosts’ eclectic art collection and colourful accessories. The sitting room is cosy with soft rugs, throws and a low-slung corner sofa layered with cushions. Through the archway is the study, where the tall bookshelves are accented with teal and accessible by ladder. And to find this home’s most restful rooms, head downstairs. The sweet twin bedroom is made interesting with cartoon prints and magenta curtains, while the master is serene with a claw-foot tub in the corner and French doors that open out to the garden.
