There’s a creative vibe to this home, a throb of passion that runs through the décor and into your very soul. Your hosts haven’t been here long - there’s no complacent clutter, and the images upon the walls will leave you exhilarated. Outside, you’re on a grand street, and just around the corner from some wonderful cafes and restaurants. Explore the antiques stores of Elizabeth Street, then retire to the steamy warmth of an artisan bakery. You’re a seven minute walk from Victoria station, and from then on it’s just a short hop to pretty much anywhere else in the city.
Look at that
Your host spent the last ten years in California, and he’s bought at little of that free-spiritedness back with him to Pimlico. He’s a photographer, and his life is saturated with colour. Your hostess is a Londoner through and through, and since their move a few months ago, she and your host have been hard at work, transforming their new space into an exciting home.
This home is rich in traditional detailing, with its high, corniced ceilings, wooden shutters and rich, chocolatey floorboards. The sitting room is equipped with a DVD player, TV, record player, and a plentiful selection of vinyl. The modern eat-in kitchen is decorated with a map of the world, which you can peruse from the chunky oak refectory table, and everywhere, the walls are hung with dazzling photographs. The bedroom is simple and sunny, and you’ve a choice of two bathrooms, one in black and white marble, and a snowy ensuite.
On and on
Amble through quiet streets until you reach the river, or head up towards bustling Victoria, and on to Buckingham Palace. Sloane Square and Chelsea’s King’s Road are within easy reach, and here you’ll find a plethora of glamorous shops and restaurants. Victoria is one of the best-connected spots in the whole UK, with trains and coaches fanning out right across Europe. Jump on the Gatwick Express, or, if it’s the West End you’re after, the journey to Oxford Circus takes a teensy four minutes.
