Within a block that dates back to the 1930s, this is a charming home that speaks volumes about the family that’s used it as their city pad over the last decade or so. The children have taken turns living in this two bedroom flat to establish themselves in London. And there can hardly be anywhere better to launch oneself than in delightful South Kensington, an appealing hotchpotch of university buildings, Victorian museums, tourist hotspots and chic bars favoured by the local young guns who work in the city and come home to play. Are you ready to dive into London too?
Your hosts are a family of two parents and three daughters. They’ve always loved this place, and it’s served them well as a central pied-à-terre. They like the brilliant location, surrounded as it is by restaurants and coffee shops. When not here, they live on the Scottish borders.
A nest on the rooftops
Put your feet up, gaze out at the South Kensington red brick roof tops, and contemplate the possibilities. This is somewhere to recharge and get ready for whatever turn your stay is going to take in Kensington and beyond. The apartment has a cosy, lived and loved feel, and it’s all charmingly populated by items brought in by the family over the years, such as the artwork adorning the walls.
Mint green and cream sofas in the sitting room wait invitingly after a day’s shopping or museum browsing. The kitchen and the bathroom are kitted out with everything you need, and there’s a fantastic dining area, ideal for entertaining. This is a home full of light and personality, just like it’s characterful location.
Homes in vibrant South Kensington witness a lot every day. People flock here for the Victoria & Albert Museum, the Science Museum and the Natural History Museum, and there are infinite possibilities for shopping and socialising. Don’t miss the Roof Gardens and Babylon Restaurant a hundred feet above Kensington High Street. And if you need to be in central London, stroll to South Kensington tube and travel to Piccadilly Circus in eight minutes.
