The villa is set on the south-western coast of Sicily, about 10 minutes drive from Selinunte, which not only claims some of the most beautiful Greek ruins in Italy but also a string of white beaches, a few small shops and a simple seaside restaurant, La Pineta, that has become a favourite with our guests. Castelvetrano, 3km/2miles, is a larger town with more facilities. An excellent motorway runs between Castelvetrano and Palermo, 1 hour to the centre, a wonderful city for touring with some very unusual sights. Along the western coast of Sicily, the wineries of Marsala are not to miss as well as the salt flats and windmills of Trapani, both about 1 hour driving. Agrigento and the Valley of the Temples lie about 100km/62miles to the East. Assistance is provided locally by the property's extremely kind caretaker who lives in the neighbouring estate with his family. He speaks a little English and fluent German; his son speaks English beautifully. Villa Barti is nestled in a unique setting, surrounded by natural reserves of rare beauty, archaeological sites, places of great historical significance with monuments and churches, making it ideal for those who, in addition to the peace of the beaches and the beauty of the sea, wants to enjoy fascinating places just a few minutes away. But not to be forgotten are the unique cultural and gastronomic traditions linked to the origins of popular traditions, the historic cellars and oil mills where you can taste the worldwide famous Sicilian wines and oils.
