Traditional Bali-style indoor/outdoor living, stylish interiors and attentive staff are the promise of Villa Shinta Dewi Ubud. This contemporary two-storey villa has been decorated with taste and attention to detail by the owners, who regularly stay: there's everything from top-quality mattresses and linen in the bedrooms to Champagne and Martini glasses in the chef's kitchen. The multiple living areas, four bedrooms (one converts to a media room), gym and massage room, and large pool make this perfect for up to 11 guests. The villa rests just outside a rural village five minutes from the galleries, restaurants and shops of Ubud. Villa Shinta Dewi rests on the edge of the quiet village of Tegallantang set in a beautiful tropical garden facing a rainforest-fringed ravine, with a cluster of mature trees on one side and a well-screened villa on the other. This is a peaceful neighbourhood of Balinese families, revered temples and the occasional private villa; the only sound comes from roosters, wild birdsong, the river below... and the occasional drone of a motorbike in the distance. Yet the buzz of Ubud with its myriad restaurants, boutiques, galleries, museums and dance performances is just two kilometres away and, very conveniently, the villa runs a twice-daily shuttle for its guests, so car hire is not essential.
