Another feature that separates New Heights from other residences is the quantity and quality of outdoor and indoor living areas. The contemporary custom design features indoor and outdoor living and dining areas, with eight outside verandas, patios, and balconies, each of which offers a stunning view of the water. The house was designed to create places where people can gather, like the Great Room, Grand Loggia, Pool and Patio. It was also designed to provide spots where a person can curl up with a good book.
New Heights also has breathtaking sunrise and sunset views. The most prominent of these is from the Grand Loggia which occupies the top fourth of the house, looking out at the Atlantic and the Sea of Abaco.
We designed the Great Room to feature an open floor plan for the main living area, using 14 nine-foot french doors and a kitchen with two ten-foot islands, providing unobstructed views of the pool, ocean, and sea. It has one of the most fully equipped chef's kitchens available, including a prep island with seating for five in Philippe Starck chairs. The kitchen also includes a separate coffee/juicing station, beverage storage for 40 bottles, a butler’s pantry including a wine fridge, bar and desk.
The main dining area seats 10 under a large covered veranda with ceiling fans and sunset views. The dining deck wraps around to a furnished patio that joins the forty-foot long pool. The Grand Loggia typifies the house’s openness. It is a perfect spot for larger gatherings or for lounging with a flat-screen TV and a full bar. Star-gazing from the loggia is breathtaking.
Around the pool, there are various sets of chaises and a patio with modern plush sofas and chairs. For beachside lounging, there is a private covered gazebo with double bed cushioned chaises. Additional Adirondack chairs and ottomans can be brought down to the beach by the property manager.
Each of the four bedrooms in the main residence opens onto a private balcony with stunning water views. One bedroom has private seating and another has a covered day bed on a veranda. All bedrooms have custom-designed beds and furniture with ample bedside lighting and all have french doors and screens so you can be lulled to sleep by the relaxing sound of the surf.
The residence has six bathrooms, including a half bath on the main floor. It also has a luxury outdoor shower with an extra-large soapstone sink to wash the sand off of all your treasures from the sea. On the third level, enjoy views of Surfer’s Beach from the master bath’s modern egg-shaped tub. The master bath also features a mosaic tiled shower. All other bathrooms are tiled in marble or travertine and all full-size baths have extra-large walk-in showers.
Along with the main residence, New Heights has an independent entry apartment with two bedrooms, one with a queen-sized bed and a flat-screen TV, and the other with bunk beds. The bunk room includes two double bed bunks (four beds) designed with adults in mind. Each bed has independent lighting and electrical outlets. The apartment has a full bath and kitchenette. The apartment also has its own dedicated patio outside with separate entrances to both bedrooms.
Guana Cay is an hour flight from several Florida east coast cities and a thirty-minute ferry ride from Marsh Harbor. Leave behind the traffic lights, shopping malls and crowded beaches. Indulge in the unspoiled natural beauty of the island and its waters, while enjoying a secluded setting — or step into your golf cart and drive five minutes or less to restaurants and the Settlement scene.
