Valbonne, Cannes area
Secluded atop a wooded hill and surrounded by 44 hectares of parkland in the countryside between Valbonne and Mougins is breathtaking Villa Valbonne. The historic estate boasts a long, illustrious past and has welcomed many famous guests. This nine-bedroom villa was where JF Kennedy spent his summers as a child when his father served as ambassador to Great Britain in the late 1930s. Enter through an electric gate, wander down the impressive driveway and step inside Villa Valbonne's grand exterior and you’ll find a series of refined, elegant rooms with period features. All are furnished to the highest standard and quality. Particularly stunning is the hallway, reception/living rooms and dining space, with fine pieces of antique furniture, paintings, fireplaces and chandeliers. Even just relaxing on the sofa feels like a special occasion! The nine ensuite bedrooms are just as opulent and are found across the first and second floors. Garden, courtyard or sea views are there to be woken up to every morning. One of the two master suites offers a sumptuous super-king-size bed, with the other having a queen-size bed and a shared terrace. The remaining seven bedrooms are a mix of king-size, queen-size, double beds and single beds to suit every member of your group. Other facilities on these two floors include a small kitchen and sauna. The magical, landscaped gardens that burst with mature cypress trees and Mediterranean flora were designed by prominent French architect, Jacques Couëlle. Within the grounds are a 20-metre marble swimming pool, tennis court, vegetable garden, olive grove and several outbuildings. It's not just its lavish accommodation that makes Villa Valbonne so impressive, but also its location. The traditional Provençal villages of Valbonne and Mougins are just a few minutes away by car, with lively Cannes around a 20-minute drive.
