There’s an opulent Asian accent to the Golden Pavilion. Not only in this huge villa’s palatial facade, but also via its elegant Indonesian design touches – such as four-poster beds, the pagoda-roof portal and traditional statuary. Then there are the extensive tropical gardens’ lily ponds and sunken sitting areas, or the pool deck’s big, Balinese-style daybeds.

Secluded in four gated acres just above secluded Little Bay on eastern Tortola, Golden Pavilion excels at amenities. Additionally beside the heated infinity pool and hot tub are a fire pit, a rotisserie and two hammocks – from which sunsets or even passing whales might be enjoyed. Outdoor speakers connect to the focal, open-plan ‘great room’ and even its appliance-packed kitchen. Paths wind down to private, rocky coves fit for adventurous snorkelling.
