This magnificent seven-bedroom villa, set on a 5,000-square-metre estate, has everything for the perfect luxury Bali holiday, from a stunning 25-metre lap pool, choice of open-air and indoor living, dining and bar areas, dedicated yoga room and state-of-the-art gym, to a sleek Teppanyaki pavilion and enormous air-conditioned library. Located in the bucolic village of Umalas, near Seminyak, Villa Malaathina is staffed by a large, professional team and is the perfect location for big groups of friends or families to get together in a luxurious environment. Villa Malaathina is set on a quiet lane in a peaceful hamlet near the village of Umalas, typified by local Balinese houses and temples, with a smattering of private villas and rice fields. Bustling Jalan Raya Semer is just one kilometre from the villa, where you will find local and international cafés, a bakery, Bali Buda – a one-stop holistic shop/cafe, a British-style pub called the Plumber's Arms and shops selling Indonesian-style home wares and furnishings. Berawa Beach and Echo Beach are about six kilometres from the villa – both are good for surfing, but are not really swimming beaches, as the waves can be rough. Echo beach also has a choice of places to eat, including The Beach House and Sate Bali, which do nightly seafood barbecues. The beach at Batu Bolong (5km) also has some good eateries – including the highly atmospheric Hotel Tugu, filled with wonderful antiques. Just over ten kilometres south of the villa, the bright lights, funky boutiques and fabulous restaurants of Seminyak and Petitenget beckon, easily reached with the villa's car and driver at special rate. Heading north will bring you to evocative Tanah Lot Temple.
