Canggu, Badung Regency
Villa Kakatua offers a tropical retreat, just steps away from Canggu's thriving nightlife. A stone's throw away from the black sand beach, the villa is situated on Bali's south-west coast. Four Balinese-style bedrooms and open-sided living pavilions are ensconced within private walls in lush tropical gardens. A free-form pool sits majestically within the green grounds, the perfect spot for daytime cocktails. Sharing staff and chefs with its neighbouring Villa Kedidi (three bedrooms), this haven also offers the chance to combine both villas for a seven-bedroom option, suitable for large groups. Villa Kakatua and its sister, Villa Kedidi have the Tugu Hotel for company, a stunning boutique hotel-museum stacked with antiques and a ‘must visit' during your stay. What was once a rural paddy-dotted area, is now Bali's most vibrant hipster spot, packed with restaurants, clubs and bars. Batu Bolong Beach is a stone's throw away from the villa, and a great spot for surfing and sunset walks. Swimming is not advised as there are strong under-currents and no lifeguards are available in this area. An ancient temple built from coral looks out to the ocean 200m from the villa where there are often ceremonies that spill out onto the beach.
