Sparkling adventure The striking colours and cultures of Clinton Hill have long-attracted a creative crowd – both Norman Mailer and Lena Horne have resided here. Gates Avenue Townhouse III is full of intrigue too. Some features are surprising – like the shimmering disco ball – while the exposed brick walls and Nordic-inspired furniture are smartly pared-back. Full-length windows enlighten the wide living area, which stretches to the rustic dining table and beyond to the alabaster kitchen. The style here is sleek, with concrete countertops. And there are ample spots for relaxation – from the mini artist’s table in the kitchen to the double bedroom’s sleek study area. Animated bunch Your hosts are keen cooks and gardeners. They enjoy baking treats for friends and family, and tending to their potted flora – inside and out. Shine out Gates Avenue Townhouse III’s living room is fit for both quiet and glamorous evenings. There’s a TV area cosied by a plush sofa, and a disco ball with plenty of space to dance – should you wish. Steps from the kitchen’s industrial-style breakfast bar are doors which open onto the quiet patio, leading down to a neatly turfed lawn. Upstairs, there’s a rustic and wooden-carved master bedroom, a neat double and a playful children’s room hung with comic prints. The iconic Barclays Center, leafy Prospect Park and downtown Brooklyn are all within easy reach.
