Modern menagerie Arty, lofty and large, Via dei Volsci is an eye-catching apartment in Central Rome. To the right of the entrance, animal paintings line the walls in the open-plan living area, which has wooden furnishings and contrasting industrial lights. White walls match the white ceiling, and to the right, there’s a floating breakfast bar in the kitchen and dining table for eight. The terrace – through glass doors ahead of the entrance – has a purple spiral staircase leading up to the roof terrace. Straight ahead from the sitting room you’ll come to the rectangular office. A long wooden desk faces a wall of tall windows, and propped opposite are a series of colourful canvases. There’s more artwork, and sculpture, in the master bedroom, beyond. Glass doors opposite a queen-size lead back out to the terrace, and there’s a skylight and walk-in shower in the arty ensuite.
