The first sip of a fine Alsatian Riesling is striking for its integration and complexity. You’ll find an equally sophisticated balance of flavors in both this warm, inviting home and the lively, eclectic cultural explosion of this East Village neighbourhood. Take an after-dinner stroll through nearby Tompkins Square Park, or find your inner poet or playwright at The Nuyorican Poets Café and the La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club, you’ll find artistic history in abundance right outside the front door.
A bel esprit
Your host knows how to live deliciously – he works in the food industry and comes from a family that enjoys fine wine. He has created a sanctuary alive with his heritage, reflected in impeccable details such as the throw pillows made from wine sacks.
Expressiveness and connectedness
The subtle details of this apartment will delight your senses. Exposed brick and warm, woody textures greet the eye as you enter the combined living room and dining area. You’ll detect a floral note in the blooms of the garden outside the window, and in the plants that flavor the rooms. Or sink into the leather couch - the cool hardwood floors and the textures of the area rug will delight your feet.
The kitchen, well-stocked with steel appliances, is ideal for preparing the meal that perfectly complements the Bordeaux you’ve just uncorked. As every foodie knows, presentation is everything, and each mouthful will be savored even more when sitting at either the breakfast bar or the dark wooden dining table, both in perfect balance with the rest of the space.
After dinner, curl up with an entremet or un café au lait in the faux fur beanbag chair in the bedroom while gazing upon the tree-lined street and planning the ingredients for your next culinary adventure.
Land of plenty
Of course, if cooking does not become you, your palate will be pleased by the East Village’s abundant variety of restaurants, and you will never be short of places to imbibe. Try Taureau for food or Terroir Wine Bar for an aperitif. And don’t forget to indulge your shopping sweet tooth with some of the most varied boutiques in the city.
