Brechin Place IV
Rainbow bright
Acid yellow, azure blue and strawberry red… outside the sky may be grey, but inside, this home is dancing with colour. Brechin Place IV is a historic townhouse apartment that’s been brought right up to date, and now, its spacious rooms hold retro designer furniture and a quirky collection of art. The museums are only just around the corner, and you’re close to the shops and restaurants of Kensington, Knightsbridge and Notting Hill. Catch the rays in Kensington Gardens, explore nearby Chelsea or use your excellent transport connections to zoom into the West End. One for style savvy couples and forever friends, the question is simply, how soon can you get here?
Colour me beautiful
Your hosts are a brainy pair, she’s a psychologist, while he’s a lawyer. This smart twosome love to travel, and Brechin Place IV is their city crash pad.
Brush strokes
With its black and yellow palette and clean lines, the sitting room of this home is quite gorgeously cool, with all sorts of fantastic detailing, from the sharp fireplace to the china hippo. The kitchen’s just as good, with a heritage porcelain sink, and white units concealing a host of useful appliances. Both bedrooms are doubles, with neutral walls and pretty views, their large beds swathed in acres of our crisp linen.
The guest bedroom has a jet-black shower room, filled with our White Company toiletries and fluffy towels. And if you have trouble opening your eyes in the morning, then the master bedroom ensuite will have you leaping out of bed. In the most joyful of reds, you’ll have a wonderful time filling that freestanding bath with bubbles.
Light and shade
If you’re here for the museums this location couldn’t be finer you can be in with the dinosaurs while the rest of London is still finishing breakfast. After a long morning in the galleries, an early lunch is in order, and there's a huge range of restaurants and cafes, both around South Kensington tube and on Kensington High Street. Walk to Knightsbridge for Harrods and Harvey Nichols, or cross the park for Notting Hill and Portobello Market. The tube from Gloucester Road to Covent Garden takes thirteen minutes.
