The villa sits in the enchanting hillside village of Les Baux de Provence, home to a charming citadel and the White Penitents Chapel, famed for its stunning frescoes. You’re just a short drive from Maussane-les-Alpilles, one of the country’s leading olive oil producers. Stock up on this golden elixir, along with a fresh baguette for dipping. With so much delicious food to tempt you, work up an appetite with a hike deep into the Alpilles foothills, passing swathes of wildflowers and ancient olive groves as eagles soar overhead.

Glorious arched ceilings, a period stone fireplace, and an antique oil press add character to the main living room. These sit in edgy juxtaposition to modern artwork, a style story that unfolds throughout the villa. There are several trendy living spaces where guests can relax with an apéritif as you rustle up a hearty pot of daube in the sophisticated grey and granite kitchen. Statement lighting illuminates the dark wood oval table in the formal dining room, or for something a little more laid-back, feast al fresco in the dappled shade.

L’Écrin de Bellefontaine accommodates guests across eight ensuite bedrooms. A soothingly muted colour palette, traditional parquet or tiled floors, and the most sumptuous, textural fabrics ensure each room feels warm and cosy. Four bedrooms provide a super king-size bed, three have a king-size bed, and the final bedroom has two single beds – perfect for children. Each bedroom boasts a boutique ensuite, with delightful features like polished stone sinks and clawfoot metal tubs.
