Calypso was an ancient Greek nymph who kept the hero Odysseus captured and enthralled on her island, it therefore seems a fitting name for this traditional Caribbean home which ensnares and enchants you with its charm. A classic St Barts abode of sunset-red tiled roof, wicker lounge chairs, warm woods and antiques, Calypso offers a uniquely cosy and delightful refuge.

Situated in the secluded waterfront of Anse des Cayes, this villa is just ten minutes from the airport and only 15 minutes from the superb restaurants and vibrant harbour of Gustavia. It is particularly well located for surf-enthusiasts, lying just five minutes from Lorient Beach - one of the best surf beaches in the area. (Although those simply seeking sand and sun will find Lorient a stunning haven as well).

There is a romance to Calypso everywhere you look: from the beautiful flowers bursting into their flamboyant colours all around, to the sumptuously canopied beds and charming traditional shutters. The two bedrooms are both ensuite and open directly onto the terrace with the gorgeous views of the bay beyond. The vaulted ceiling and soft, golden hues of the living area invite in the sunshine to cast a delicious glow across the space. Here you can sink into the soft, deep furnishings or perch at the bar for a classic cocktail.

Outside, tucked away amongst the twining greenery, are numerous shady spots and dining tables to enjoy the ocean breeze with your meal. An expansive deck flows out to encase a sparkling pool and Jacuzzi, with loungers scattered throughout to capture the rays. Without a doubt, Calypso is a place of candlelight and romance which is sure to cast its spell on you.

We love onefinestay and their properties. From the beginning to the end, we had a great experience. We had someone meet us at the airport to drive us to the villa, then a maid service who was able to check in with us on a daily basis.
