As one of St John’s few six-bedroom rental homes, the magnificent Villa Panache suits large families, groups of friends or small team-building trips. It offers space, amenities galore and an enviable location: in the exclusive Estate Rendezvous neighborhood, close to both Cruz Bay’s bright lights and the world-famous North Shore beaches.

It also affords sumptuous views, chiefly from its main deck – enclosing a nine-metre heated pool, sun loungers and a dining gazebo. Over a morning coffee or grilled-fish lunch, guests can look across Rendezvous Bay all the way to neighbouring St Croix. The sun beams down for most of the day and, should you fancy a short drive, there’s a snorkeling reef off one of several nearby beaches.

A breezy patio leads indoors, via arched, fold-away mahogany doors, to the hexagonal ‘great room’. Elegantly furnished and open-plan under high ceilings, its comfy sofas and dining table in turn border the gourmet-level kitchen, whose counter’s wicker chairs enable casual chats as meals are prepared. A blender and a coffee maker are among the many appliances equipping the kitchen.

The ensuite bedrooms are scattered about to ensure privacy. Including a twin trundle for tiny guests, the master suite is adjacent to the great room. A separate two-storey cottage hosts three balconied suites, while the pool deck leads down to two more chambers in a separate apartment. Whichever you pick, expect vibrant colours and elegant floor tiles, refreshingly cool underfoot after the heat of the West Indian sun.
