From yacht to bar, here’s how to do Saint-Tropez

Luminous is the word for Saint-Tropez, whether you’re talking about the cobbled old town, the white-sand beaches or the glittering ocean-side restaurants. Made for entertainment, this vibrant French Riviera destination is all about beach culture and fine dining. We know it well, so we’ve put together this insider guide to the places you mustn’t miss.

Sunlit beaches

Do you imagine soft sands and blue seas when you think of Saint-Tropez? You won’t be disappointed. This whole coast is fringed with beaches, and whether you’re looking for serene shores or somewhere a little more glamorous, you’ll find the perfect spot. Those seeking calm will be enchanted by La Ponche, a little beach tucked below Saint-Tropez’s atmospheric old town, while families might prefer Plage de la Bouillabaisse’s tranquil waters and relaxed restaurants. For that classic Saint-Tropez vibe, however, Les Canebiers can’t be beaten. A real local favourite, this beach is just a short stroll from downtown Saint-Tropez, and is set apart by views of the Maures mountains that are just magical at sunset.

Chic French eateries

Saint-Tropez may be known for its beach culture, but its restaurant culture is just as lively. The town’s locals love to spend a sunny day or balmy evening in a traditional café or restaurant, eating, drinking and watching the world go by. Café Sénéquier is a quintessentially French place to enjoy everything from coffee to cocktails – beneath classic cherry-red awnings, no less. Those curious to taste the Saint-Tropez favourite, Bouillabaisse, will love bayside Chez Camille (or else Hotel de la Ponche, an old-town haunt once frequented by Brigitte Bardot). For gastronomy, though, it really has to be Michelin-starred La Vague d’Or, where the breath-taking sea views are second only to the creative dishes.

Exploring in style

Once you’ve settled into Saint-Tropez, you’ll soon discover that the town is brimming with a vast array of boutiques. You’ll definitely need something to transition from the Villa to the restaurant. French brand Manoush, has the perfect collections to transition into from day to night. For sun worshippers heading to the beach, be sure to visit Vilebrequin, a swimwear brand founded in Saint-Tropez. Of course, your trip would be incomplete without a visit to the infamous Dior Boutique, located next to the picture perfect Les Jardins de l'Ambassade.
