The very best of Cabo San Lucas
Explore the endless charm of Los Cabos
Perched on the southernmost tip of the Baja California peninsula, Cabo San Lucas is the destination with it all. Once a sleepy fishing town, today the place is an intoxicating blend of luxe high-end resorts, laidback beach bars, fiery sunsets and fun-filled fiestas, wrapped up in spectacular sea vistas and sprinkled with a good pinch of local charm.
The surrounding area boasts desert, beach and mountain terrain, framed by the Pacific Ocean on the west side and the Gulf of California to the east. The balmy climate further enhances this spectacular natural beauty - with an average of 360 sunny days per year, you’ll have endless opportunities to enjoy the wonders all around you.

The area's loveliest stretches of sand
Cabo is renowned for sugar soft stretches of golden sand and spectacular sea vistas. You even have the choice between two stretches of oceans - the Pacific Ocean or the Gulf of California. So, pick your favourite spot, pack a towel and off you go. However, before you dive right in, it’s good to note that while all are breathtaking, not every beach in Cabo is swimmable due to strong waves, undertows and steep ocean floor drop-offs. Therefore, caution should always be taken before entering the water.
Nestled between Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo, Palmilla Beach is the ideal place for a relaxing family beach day. Stretching out for over a mile, Palmilla’s calm, crystalline waters have been granted the international Blue Flag certification, meaning you can enjoy a peaceful and safe swim here. To make it even more family-friendly, there are lifeguards on the beach and bathroom facilities available, as well as tasty refreshments at the luxury hotels which frame the back of the beach.
Not just for lovers, Playa del Amor is one of Cabo’s most beautiful spots. Situated nearby El Arco de Cabo San Lucas - the iconic arch that marks Land’s End - this hidden stretch of sand is only accessible by boat, adding an element of adventure to your beach day. Be sure to pack your own towel and umbrella for the trip though, as well as a picnic, as there are no official services operating here.
Tucked away in a protected marine reserve, Santa Maria Beach is a peaceful spot. An excellent spot for both swimming and snorkelling, there’s an incredible array of underwater life to discover here. Keep an eye on the waves too and you may spot the telltale plumes of spray, meaning that a pod of whales have come to pay you a visit.
Those searching for something a little off the beaten path should head to Playa Las Viudas. Framed by otherworldly volcanic rock formations, twisting and towering their way out of the sand, this is a spectacular spot for a day of sunbathing and picnicking. Even if there are plenty of other people around, the rocks and winding shorelines create lots of little coves, nooks and crannies so you’re sure to find a private spot.
Adventures in Cabo's breathtaking landscape
The underwater world here in Cabo is just as jaw-dropping as the scenery back on land. Head to the iconic Arco Cabo San Lucas for some of the area’s best snorkelling. From shoals of brilliantly coloured tropical fish to intricate coral reefs, there’s so much to discover in these waters - it’s little wonder that some of the world’s biggest fishing tournaments are held in the area.
Speaking of which, there are also plenty of opportunities for keen fishermen to get out and try their luck. From Mahi Mahi and Wahoo to Tuna, Roosterfish and Sailfish, the waters around Cabo are bursting with an abundance of fish. Charter a private yacht and set off for the fishing expedition of a lifetime - there’s no feeling quite like watching the sunset over the water as the catch of the day sizzles on the grill.
Fishing certainly isn’t the only water-based activity available in Cabo San Lucas either. From kayaking to SUP and even kitesurfing, adventure abounds in Cabo. Hire a boat and set out to Espiritu Santo Island for a dazzling day trip. This UNESCO Biosphere Reserve is said to house some of the world’s most beautiful beaches, as well as a host of wildlife both on land and in the water. Swim with sea lions and observe the brown pelicans, great blue herons and snowy egrets soaring above. In the coral reefs, you’ll find parrotfish, angelfish, trumpetfish and rainbow wrasse, while you may catch a glimpse of sharks, rays, turtles, dolphins, orcas and even whales swimming past. In fact, the biodiversity here is so breathtaking that the place is known as ‘the Galapagos of the Sea of Cortez’.
Back on land, hiking, biking and quad adventures abound. Whizz through the desert and along the beach on a 4x4 ATV or opt for the more traditional transport of horseriding, or even camelback for the more daring! Hikers will want to head to the majestic Fox Canyon, where they can wander along the towering granite passage, past towering cacti and through lush oases, stopping at tumbling waterfalls and hidden pools along the way. Meanwhile, keen golfers won’t want to miss the opportunity to test out Cabo’s endless array of world-class golf clubs. Whichever course(s) you settle upon, be ready to be awestruck by Cabo San Lucas' magnificent terrain.
Where to shop
For those who fancy something a little more laidback, a spot of shopping should definitely be on the cards. Renowned as a wonderful shopping destination, you’re sure to find whatever you were looking for here (as well as plenty of things you didn’t even know you needed). The main shopping district is the Marina Golden Zone, where you’ll find endless lovely boutiques selling fragrant perfumes, fine leather goods and gleaming watches, as well as outposts from an array of international designers.
Searching for something extra special? This area is especially known for its dazzling jewellery. Pick your favourite from the glittering selection of unique pieces, carefully crafted using iridescent precious stones and authentic Mexican silver from the heritage town of Taxco. Ultrajewels and Diamonds International are two of the area’s most reputable jewellers, however, you can also find plenty of hidden gems if you browse the smaller shops too.
Meanwhile, there’s plenty in this region for art lovers too. A trip to Galeria Corsica over in San Jose del Cabo should be top of the list. Showcasing the finest masters of Mexican art, spend a happy afternoon admiring the astounding artwork here, it’s also a great place to find museum-quality pieces for collectors. Another great spot for an afternoon of art is the Galería Sergio Bustamante in the Puerto Paraiso Mall. Filled with ceramic sculptures and fine jewellery from one of Mexico's most instantly recognisable artists, you can combine a trip to the gallery with a visit to the mall’s array of boutiques.
Foodie favourites and fun-filled fiestas
When it comes to food, Cabo San Lucas does not disappoint. From laidback beachfront eateries where you can sink your toes into the sand and your teeth into a bowl of fresh guacamole and chips to fine dining extravaganzas, the vibrant local flavours of Cabo are guaranteed to tantalize your tastebuds.
Sur Beach House
If you’re searching for a sun-kissed spot to while away a balmy afternoon, then Sur Beach House is the place for you. Kick back and relax to the sounds of the resident DJ, a cold Cerveza in hand and a good helping of fresh Baja oysters and morish truffle fries within arm’s reach.
Spanning a vast 25 acres, Flora Farms is nestled amongst the foothills of the spectacular Sierra de la Laguna Mountains in San José Del Cabo. Known for its wonderful restaurant, this organic, working farm offers so much more to delight all the family, including cooking classes, its own farm spa and animals which the children can wander around and see. Everything served in the restaurant (as well as the bar and farm shop) is grown and harvested mere steps away. The menu changes according to the season but remains delicious no matter the time of year. Whatever you order, be sure to finish with a good helping from Flora’s famous ice cream cart - all homemade with milk from the ranch.
Just opposite Flora Farms, ACRE is the ultimate spot for an unforgettable meal. While the food and cocktails are excellent, the setting is what makes it that extra bit special. Tucked away by towering trees and gently swaying palms, you’ll feel as though you’re dining in the heart of the jungle. To top it off, the restaurant’s ethos combines deep respect for its surroundings with a free-spirited sensibility, resulting in an atmosphere that manages to be both relaxed and refined at once.
Those looking for an excuse to dance should head to the famous Bar Esquina, nearby Medano beach. A favourite with locals and visitors alike, the bar’s tasteful live music and social atmosphere invite you to let your hair down and sample a freshly mixed margarita or two, alongside some delicious locally-sourced food from Chef Andres Bracamontes. Warm and welcoming no matter what time of day, there’s a reason why Bar Esquina is a Cabo classic.
Sunset Point Jazz Bar
If you’re searching for a spectacular way to end your day, then the Sunset Point Jazz Bar is where you should head to. Balanced atop the world-famous Sunset Monalisa restaurant, this special spot boasts panoramic views of the famous Land’s End Arch. Enjoy cocktails as the sun goes down, the melodic notes of the live jazz band floating through the air.
You shouldn’t visit Mexico without sampling the country’s national drink: tequila! Distilled from the heart of the agave plant, this spirit is considered to be one of the finest in the world. We can arrange a special tequila tasting session where you can discover the history and traditions associated with this drink, as well as the process of production.
